It’s no secret saison is one of our favorite styles to brew and drink. The nuanced flavor profiles and subtleties of this Belgian ale offer a complexity with which few other styles can compete. In fact, in just under three years of brewing, we have already brewed over a dozen batches of various clean and mixed fermentation saison.
We are thrilled to release our first saison from our Belgian program we are calling Farmhouse Slang. Similar to Oceans Between Us and You, Me and Everyone We Know, this beer will get a different treatment with each release. The whole idea with our Belgian program is to allow for flexibility and creativity without the restriction and consistency requirements our clean beer requires.
For the first release of Farmhouse Slang, we decided to keep it simple and brew a mixed fermentation Saison using a Belgian saccharomyces strain with a blend of some of our favorite strains of brettanomyces. For an additional layer of complexity, we dry hopped this beer with a healthy dose of New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops. Batch 001 of Farmhouse Slang was brewed in March, packaged in April and aged warm for three months allowing that funky Brett character to fully develop before releasing.
The result is one of our best beers and truly a culmination of everything we have learned about Saison over the years. 500ml bottles of this beauty drop Thursday, July 7th in the tasting room. $7 a piece with no limit.
We're also excited to announce that Farmhouse Slang won a bronze medal at the 2016 U.S. Open Beer Championship for French/Belgian Saison.
